Possible New Lead in Disappearance of Lauren Spierer

The missing college student's parents appeared on the ABC News program "20/20."

Scarsdale, NY — Whether it’s valid lead or not, a private detective may have new information into the disappearance five years ago of Lauren Spierer, the Edgemont resident and Indiana University student.

Spierer’s parents appeared on the ABC News program “20/20” to talk about their daughter and during the show three theories were discussed: that it was someone in her circle of friends, an ex-con with a white truck and a biker gang, according to ABC News.

Spierer disappeared on June 3, 2011, in Bloomington, Indiana, after a night out with friends. Her parents have spoken to numerous media outlets, magazines and television shows in the hope that there will be some resolution to their daughter's disappearance.

An inmate serving time with Corey Hamersley, former Indiana University student, said Hamersley saw a picture of Spierer on the television and said to the inmate that he knew the guys were involved in her disappearance, according to an article on the Daily Mail website, and that they go rid of her body after she overdosed on drugs at a party.
