Restoration Update: Friday 8 a.m.

Word from Village Hall puts outages at only 70 Con Ed customers in the village, with work continuing through the day on Friday.

On Wednesday, Con Edison's Vice President of Bronx/Westchester Electric Operations Tim Cawley came to Scarsdale to take a look around and talk restoration.

According to Mayor Stevens, he commited to restoring power to the village by Friday, and said they were working their best to keep to that goal.

Update for 8:00 a.m. Friday, according to an e-mail from Mayor Stevens:

"There are presently about 70 customers (or less) without power.  There are about 10 in Edgewood (these appear to be effected by a larger outage in Eastchester) and 10 on or near Birchall; 5 in or near Sheldrake; most of the others are scattered outages with only one or two homes affected."

"Con Ed Expects to  have everyone back today."

Update as of 9:00 p.m. Thursday, according to an e-mail from Mayor Stevens:

"We are at 471 households remaining to be restored.  There are 69 outages causing those folks to be without power.  There are 6 or 7 outages that are producing about 370 of the 471.  I am told that it is Con Ed's goal to have those major outages cleared up by 11:00 PM tonight.  The other outages are producing smaller numbers of customers effected and should be simpler and quicker to accomplish. They still say they will be finished by tomorrow [Friday] night."

As previously reported to Patch (we had no luck getting it up after a computer malfunction) by Mayor Stevens [4:00 p.m .update]:

"...The number of households withour power is down to a little over 600 - Con Ed expects to have 500 back by about 11:00PM tonight.  That will leave about a 100 hundred to be done.  Those 100 are scattered over the Village in no particluar pattern.  At present there are 45 crews working on 8 outages - those 8 outages represent the 500 households they hope to get back by tonight.  The are presently working on a large loop in and around Mamaroneck Rd. including Sheldrake, Cushman, and Secor; Drake & Ferncliff; Sherbrooke; Donellan; Johnson and a couple of other streets in Arthur Manor near the Eastchester boarder; Park and Windmill.

With regard to food claims or other claims the Public Service Commission is the arbiter of whether Con Edison has to pay any claims.  Storm claims are normally denied - however if the outage is more than 3 days (which this has been) the Public Service Commission may review the circumstances and award payment for food losses.  Folks should check the Con Ed website under Storm Claims. They may also wish to write the Public Service Commission..."

[As previously published:]

As of this morning, at 7:00 a.m., they seemed to be well on their way to completing the task.

While 2,500 households were still out yesterday afternoon, only 900 remained without service this morning.

Only five roadways – down from 49 on Tuesday night – are still blocked from traffic: Sherbrook Rd, Donellan Rd., and Drake Rd. (between Nelson and Hamilton) are among them and continue to present problems.

In an e-mail, Mayor Carolyn Stevens explained that some of the blockages are caused by the lack of poles that have been delivered to town.

"They plan to have all roads open by the end of business today," she wrote.
