"We focused on their key players and felt that we were going to win the game with this strategy," Berger said. "We did a good job of limiting them on offense and while we didn't win, we played our hardest on both sides of the field."
Defenders Margot Ehrlich chased the Bronxville attackers all game long, doing an impressive job limiting their offensive opportunities.
Scarsdale Sophomore Elizabeth Felix was busy all over the field, scoring two goals, including the game-tying score. She also took a big charge to give Scarsdale possession with two minutes remaining in the contest. Also playing big roles for the Raiders were Hannah Duggan and Ali Och.
Scarsdale was able to hold the ball for the last two minutes and created a couple of good scoring chances. Bronxville goaltender, Lara Florek protected her net well, with 11 saves, including a couple big ones down the stretch.
Scarsdale assistant coach Dennis Hurlie was content with his team's composure during the final few minutes. Hurlie stated, "The team really settled down well and we were able to run the offense we wanted to in order to win the game."
This tie pushed Scarsdale to 4-2-1 on the season. It remains 4-0-0 in league play and believe that this game helped prepare them for the rest of the season.
"This Broncos team is a really solid group and this match up and this game in particular can only make us a better team in the long run," Berger said,
The Raiders look forward to this weekend, as this Saturday is Raider Pride Day at Scarsdale High School. After a day of celebration they get back on their quest for an undefeated season in conference play.
