Scarsdale High School Students to Hold Snow Storm Simulation
The students will be joined by a host of government emergency preparedness officials.

Scarsdale High School students will hold a snow storm emergency simulation next month as part of a project for City 2.0 classes.
The unique event will bring out a host of government emergency preparedness officials who will participate in the event and lend an air of authenticity to the drill. Students have been researching infrastructure and climate change as it relates to New York City, which the simulation will emulate.
Below is a press release from teacher Maggie Favretti, who is helping to coordinate the simulation:

On January 7, (snow date 8th), from 8-3 in rooms 170-172, the City 2.0 classes will be engaged in a storm simulation, during which time they will be role-playing actual agencies and working to create a unity of purpose to protect and support Lower Manhattan. They will be joined by LCDR Marc Sennick of the US Coast Guard, Ira Tannenbaum (NY OEM), Sean Waters (FEMA), Bill Raisch (InterCEP), and Gerry Stoughton (ret. Port Authority). John Harrison will be playing the Mayor of NYC. I have attached the tentative schedule of the day.
Going into the simulation day, students have researched infrastructure and climate change, and made proposals for modifications to NYC critical infrastructures, planning 50-100 years forward. They are completing (today and tomorrow, in room 2n5 -10:00 and 1:15 today and 9:00 and 2:00), a scale model from Canal Street south, built to scale out of found materials.
