Scarsdale Mourns Physician Who Died in Fire
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

SCARSDALE, NY — Investigators are still trying to find out what caused the fire that took the life of a beloved physician in Scarsdale.
The body of Dr. John Salimbene, 85, was found by emergency crews Monday afternoon in the rubble of his burned-out home, News 12 said.
A neighbor told News 12 that Salimbene treated patients over 50 years, including treating nuns and priests for free.

The fire broke out in the two-story Boulevard home around 3:20 p.m. Sunday.
Both Salimbene and his wife Marie were home. She was rescued from the fire and taken to the hospital to be treated for burns.

John Salimbene Jr., who is one of seven children, said his father was the type of doctor who would call patients at 10 p.m. to give them blood test results, FIOS1 News said.
