Residents collect their food scraps in a countertop pail, which can be lined with a compostable bag, but not a plastic bag.

A collection starter kit is available from the village for $20.

The food scraps can then be brought as often as needed to the collection center.

All material collected is taken to a commercial composting facility where it is turned into compost.

More information, including a Food Scrap Recycling Guide, is available on the village’s website.
