Scarsdale Police Blotter: Thefts, Threats and Fraud

Dispatch Log: Monday, Nov. 28--Monday, Dec. 5

Monday, Nov. 28 

6:55 p.m. — A Gary Fisher mountain bike valued at $1,000 was taken from the Starbucks bike racks on East Parkway. The bicycle, which had been secured using a cable-style lock, had been removed from the rack by an individual who had cut the cable and left it on scene along with the complainant's helmet.

10:55 a.m. — A Warnke Lane resident was present at police headquarters to report an incident of aggravated harassment. According to the complainant, he had been contracted to work on a property owned by a local synagogue and a temporary employee unable to operate a piece of machinery had become angered after he handed him instructions and "asked him if he could read." The employee ceased his involvement with the project and demanded to be driven to the train station. Upon arriving at the train station, the employee demanded that the contractor "pay him his money," and following an attempted negotiation, threatened to return with his gun if he did not receive compensation. The man, a Bronx resident, left the premises and later called the contractor to tell him that he had left paint brushes at the residence. The contractor requested a mailing address to mail both the paint brushes and his payment, and the employee became irate once more, calling him a thief and saying he'd "get more than what he owed." Following the phone call, the employee sent the contractor numorous threatening texts. Police contacted the employee and left a message advising him to cease contacting the complainant. 

5:31 p.m. — A Brewster Road resident reported that she had received two money orders worth $870 each by mail on Nov. 16. The complainant stated that she had attempted to contact the sender, a Texas resident, with negative results. Further research revealed that other people had been previously defrauded by this company. The checks were not cashed and placed into evidence for safekeeping.

6:11 p.m. — Tree tires and rims worth $3,000 were stolen off a 2010 BMW M3 parked in the Christie Place garage. 

8:36 p.m. —A Brite Avenue couple reported that their credit card information was stolen and used to buy fabric from a design store. Two individual purchases were made from the store, amounting to $3,717 and $3,718. 

Wednesday, Nov. 30 

3:40 a.m. — A Cayuga Road resident reported multiple unwanted text messages from a New Rochelle resident who had an alleged criminal history and had once stated that he would "kill" the complainant while the two were in White Plains. The complainant told police that he had reported the incident to White Plains police and that he was contributing a follow-up to Scarsdale patrol. Police contacted the suspect, who did not deny the allegations and stated that there was an ongoing dispute between the two parties. The suspect was warned to case communicating with the complainant. 

11:43 a.m. — An Ogden Road resident reported a missing 1.79-karat diamond pendant on a platinum chain valued at $30,000. The complainant stated that she had discovered the pendant missing two weeks prior and had last seen it in her residence earlier that month. She did not believe the pendant was stolen, and requested that the incident be documented for an insurance claim. 

Friday, Dec. 2

7:15 p.m. — A Dell Road resident stated that she was in court proceedings with a tenant in regards to the rent payment specified in their lease. The complainant added that she believed the tenant removed the "For Rent" sign from her front lawn. Police advised the caller that the sign was present in the front lawn, and that it had probably fallen off the sign post. The two were told to remain guided by the court in regards to their civil dispute. 

7:30 p.m. — A Scarsdale man charged with second degree strangulation surrendered to an arrest warrant issued by the Honorable Judge John Galloway. After presenting himself at police headquarters, he was fingerprinted, photographed and arraigned before being released on his own recognizance. A temporary Order of Protection was issued and served to the defendant. The accused party is scheduled to appear in Village court on Dec. 14. 

Saturday, Dec. 3

11:21 a.m. — A reckless driver in a Lamborghini was reported to be driving in the side streets near Fayette. Police did not locate the vehicle. 

3:57 p.m. — A Scarsdale High School student reported a missing Nikon camera and lens worth $1,300 to police. According to the student, she had last seen the camera at approximately 5:15 p.m. the previous Tuesday when she had placed it on a gym table before gymnastics class. The student stated that the camera was no longer present when she returned to its original site the next day. No students had turned it into administration. Police were advised that school administrators were in the process of examining security camera footage to determine the camear's whereabouts. 

10:18 p.m. — A Yield sign was damaged at 40 East Parkway and 1 Christie Place. The sign, which was completely dislodged from its base, was thought to have either been damaged from a rogue car or criminal mischief. 

Monday, Nov. 5 

12:50 p.m. — An Overlook Road resident called police after discovering more items missing from a previous larceny report.
