Scarsdale Police Blotter: Vehicle Thefts, Missing Jewelry

Monday, Dec. 5 

12:50 p.m. -- A pair of 14-karat diamond earings valued at $5,000 and a pair of Irene Neuwirth moonestone earrings worth $1,470 were reported stolen from an Overlook Road home. 

9:24 p.m. -- A local dentist noted an unauthorized party observing pornography on his office computer while working remotely from home. He arrived at the office and observed a member of the building's cleaning staff on his computer before reporting him to patrol. The dentist did not wish to press charges.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

3:59 p.m. -- Village Court requested assistance with an irate individual. Police found all in good order upon arrival.

5:05 p.m. -- A complainant reported being involved in a hit-and-run accident on Post and Heathcote Roads. 

8:02 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to reports of possible shots fired near Saxon Woods Golf Court. The call appeared to be unfounded. 

Wednesday, Dec. 7

2:56 p.m. -- A Murray Hill Road resident reported that an unknown individual had used his mother's identity to withdraw money from her Chase Bank account. 

Thursday, Dec. 8 

12:31 a.m. -- A new 2012 Acura "TL" sedan was stolen from a Catherine Road driveway. While inside his residence, the complainant heard the vehicle's engine start and observed it being driven from his driveway down the road and onto Wheelock Road. Police investigated the scene and determined that the car had been parked and unlocked in the driveway. The owner stated that the car could be started with a key fob and presented his own set of keys, proving that the theft had not occurred from leaving them in the vehicle. Police noted that the home was located in a cul-de-sac and that it had been raining heavily outside during the time of the theft. 

3:55 p.m. -- Police responded to a report of second-degree harassment and aggravated assault on Bell Road. 

Friday, Dec. 9

8:37 a.m. -- A black Dell laptop was reported stolen from the living room of a Mamaroneck Road residence. 

2:18 p.m. -- A Madison Road resident reported that she had lost a pre-signed Citibank check that was supposed to be used by her son for a doctor's appointment. While checking her online account, she noted five checks that she had not written. After receiving copies of the fraudulent checks, she observed that four were forgeries of the first. All five totaled to $490 had had been cashed between Nov. 17 and Dec. 1. 

3:13 p.m. -- Police received prank calls from a group of youths at Scarsdale Middle School. 

3:30 p.m. -- A sick raccoon was reported in a Dickel Road backyard. The animal was gone upon patrol's arrival. 

4:23 p.m. -- Police received a call from a Brite Avenue resident who heard the sound of breaking glass emanating from a rear sliding door. Police found that an unknown party had thrown a large rock into the home, leaving two holes in the glass door. 

5:30 p.m. -- A Brewster Road resident reported that his house had been egged. The complainant stated that he believed it may have been done by two children whom he had chased away on Thanksgiving Day after they continuously rang his doorbell.

7 p.m. -- An injured deer with two broken front legs was removed from Mamaroneck Road and Crossway by Scarsdale Police. 

Saturday, Dec. 10 

8:08 p.m. -- An unknown party threw a brick into the window of a Hampton Road property. Total damages amounted to $250.  

Monday, Dec. 12

7:31 p.m. -- A bicycle was reported stolen from Bretton Road. 

8:27 p.m. -- A Carthage Road resident reported that he'd received several prank phone calls from an unknown youth imitating funny voices on the phone.
