Scarsdale Police Blotter: Identity Thefts, Loose Animals and a Car With a Side of Salad Dressing
Last week in Scarsdale, loose animals roamed Village streets, several residents reported identity thefts to the police and an unknown individual chose to pour a strange substance — salad dressing — into a car parked overnight on Popham Road.

11:07 a.m. — A female complainant reported that an unknown individual poured salad dressing in her car while parked overnight on 45 Popham Road.
11:31 a.m. — An Overlook Resident told police that her neighbor had littered the street with blown leaves and tree limbs. Police arrived and noticed a small pile of leaves on the corner of the reported property that slightly overlapped the roadway. Police did not think the pile was a potential hazard for drivers, but nevertheless contacted the highway department to remove the leaves from the roadway.

3:02 p.m. — A school bus clipped the mirror of a gray SUV parked illegally on Sage Terrace. No students were on the bus, and the bus itself was not damaged. The SUV's operator left the scene upon being notified.
3:31 p.m. — A landscape truck was reported as spraying an unknown and perhaps hazardous substance onto Axtell Drive. Police did not locate the landscapers responsible.
5:22 p.m. — An 8-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle on the intersection between Griffen Avenue and Brittany Close.
5:46 p.m. — A complainant reported to police dispatch with a removal order for his son.
8:27 p.m. — A resident of White Road reported ID theft on a credit card.
10:50 p.m. — A caller reported a power outage on Swarthmore Road and believed he heard a transformer explode. Police arrived and found both the Scarsdale Fire Department and Con Edison on scene. The outage, which had been caused by a blown fuse, was fixed by all involved parties.
Tuesday, Oct. 18
4:26 p.m. — A Brewster Road resident reported that five leaf blowers were being used within 100 yards of each other. Police arrived and observed only one leaf blower in use.
10:27 p.m. — A caller stated that her son damaged a fire hydrant on Mohican Trail Road after falling asleep and drove off the street.
Wednesday, Oct. 19
11:52 a.m. — A Bee-Line Bus dispatcher reported that a steel plate had shifted in the roadway on the intersection of Scarsdale Avenue and Popham Road. Police found a piece of the roadway collapsed next to a steel roadway plate and spoke with ELQ Construction Company, who was on scene and advised that they would fill in the roadway hole.
1:56 p.m. — A coyote was reported on Hampton Road. Police did not find the animal.
5:02 p.m. — A caller reported that a male driver operating a red Sedan might have struck a fire hydrant on Highway Way and Fox Meadow Road. Police did not discover any damage inflicted to the reported fire hydrant.
6:18 p.m. — Police were informed of a transformer explosion on Post and Sprague roads. Police arrived and spoke with SFD, who notified Con Edison of a possible hanging wire. No fire or electricity loss was reported on the block. All was in good order upon the SFD's departure.
7:48 p.m. — Westchester County Fire Control requested an ambulance for a 27-year-old complaining of faintness and dizziness. Patrol arrived and spoke with the calling party, who said that he was not ill, but became disoriented in an attempt to locate his bus stop in White Plains. The complainant was out of money, and patrol assisted him by transporting him to his intended bus stop. No further assistance was required.
Thursday, Oct. 20
6:59 a.m. — A burning wire was reported on Turnstall and Madison roads. Police stood by on scene until Con Edison arrived.
3:13 p.m. — A Franklin Road residence was reported to be violating Village Code by draining their pool onto the roadway. Patrol spoke with the homeowner, who stated that he had not been aware of the Village ordinance, and advised that the water was not chemically-treated or chlorinated. Police issued a warning despite the fact that no violations or hazards were observed.
5 p.m. — A complainant reported to dispatch to report an unknown person who had written checks on her checking account without permission.
Friday, Oct. 21
12:29 a.m. — A large tree branch and broken pumpkin were reported in George Field Park. The caller reported that she believed the debris was caused by a group of youths passing the park. Police removed the items and checked the area, which was found clear, for the reported adolescents.
12:48 a.m. — A sick raccoon was reported on Griffen Avenue. Police spoke with the homeowner and canvassed the area, but did not find the raccoon.
2:20 p.m. — A Brite Avenue resident reported that she was a victim of fraud.
9:11 p.m. — A group of loud youths were reported making excessive noise on Black Birch Lane. The homeowner told police that a birthday party was occurring at the location, and that several guests had recently left. No violations were observed.
10:15 p.m. — Youths were reported in George Field Park. Patrol arrived, and the reported teenagers fled the scene. All was found quiet and in good order.
11:28 p.m. — A caller from Sycamore Road reported loud youths in the area. Police canvassed the area with negative results.
Saturday, Oct. 22
10:39 a.m. — A 6-year-old boy was reported missing at the Scarsdale Girl Scout House on 33 Wayside Lane. The child was found upon patrol's arrival.
2:02 p.m. — A Stratton Road resident reported that an unknown person changed and cashed a check he sent to Con Edison.

2:33 p.m. — Two loose dogs were reported on Mamaroneck and Saxon Woods roads. Police did not find the dogs.
9:31 p.m. — An Eton Road homeowner reported that her house had been entered.
11:39 p.m. — A "very loud" party was reported on Bradford Road. Residents complied with a police request to lower the music.
11:44 p.m. — A caller reported a possible domestic dispute on the front lawn of a Circle Road residence. Police responded and spoke to the homeowner's son, who stated that he, alone with some friends, had previously been yelling in front of his home. Police informed him of the noise complaint and left without incident.
Sunday, Oct. 23
12:37 p.m. — The Secret Service advised police that the "swipe scam" might be set up around banks near the Village Center Metro-North train station. No tampering was evident within any bank located in the vicinity.
3:29 p.m. — A complainant from Sprague Road stated that he was a victim of identity theft.
8 p.m. — A medium-sized dog was reported running loose on the grounds of a Weaver Street residence. Police did not locate the dog.
Monday, Oct. 24
7:57 a.m. — A caller reported a verbal dispute between two males on Taunton Road. Police spoke with the caller, who informed them that he had engaged in a minor argument with a construction worker about his parked construction truck partially blocking the roadway. The worker was advised to move his truck.
