Scarsdale Police Blotter: Loose Dogs, Missing Family Members and DWI Arrests

This past weekend in Scarsdale, loose dogs galavanted down village streets, family members were reported missing and two drivers were arrested for DWI charges.

Friday, May 6

11:25 a.m.— A tan Cocker Spaniel was seen running loose on Old Lyme Road. Police did not locate the animal.

11:47 a.m.— A black 2011 Chevy Tahoe was broken into and items removed at Scarsdale High School by the Wayside entrance.

 12:02 p.m.— A black 2010 Jeep Wrangler was broken into at the Crossway Field Tennis Court Complex on 300 Mamaroneck Road.

 8:57 p.m.— A loose dog was spotted on 45 Mamaroneck and 1 Cushman roads. Police canvassed the area with negative results.

9:40 p.m.— A 4-car collision with injuries occurred on 167 Weaver Street and Quaker Ridge Road. Howard L. Clark, 67, of Greenwich, Connecticut was arrested on charges of aggravated DWI with a BAC greater than .08 percent.

11:05 p.m.— A loud party was reported occurring at a Normandy Lane residence. Police spoke to the homeowners regarding the complaint, and they agreed to lower the music and move the party indoors.

11:35 p.m.— A suspicious-looking black Ford Explorer was observed parked in the middle of Lebanon Road. Police responded to the scene and did not find the vehicle or witness unusual activity.

Saturday, May 7

1:12 a.m.— A suspicious-looking vehicle was seen loitering on 32 Cooper and 11 Mamaroneck roads.

1:13 a.m.— Raucous youths were reported making noise in front of a house on Normandy Lane. Police arrived and advised the youths to disperse. 

3:39 a.m.— Two erratic motorcycle operators were seen speeding down Post Road southbound from Fenimore Road. Police did not locate the drivers.

7:31 a.m.— A Church Lane resident reported items stolen from her vehicle. Patrol arrived and spoke with the homeowner, who stated that she had found the previously missing items. She later learned that the items were placed in her husband’s vehicle. All was in good order upon patrol’s departure.

11:26 a.m.— Alvaro Gonzalez, 41, of White Plains was arrested for second-degree criminal trespassing after he was spotted walking into an unlocked Walworth Avenue residence and leaving the premises after being questioned by the homeowner.

5:22 p.m.— A caller reported that the plates on the Popham Road bridge had shifted, creating hazardous driving conditions. Police responded to the dispatched location and contacted Con Ed, who arrived and secured the plates.

5:34 p.m.- A caller reported a raccoon in the middle of Kingston Road. Police spoke to a nearby homeowner, who stated that they had not seen the animal. All was in good order upon patrol’s departure.

6:26 p.m.— Willie P. Thomas, 71, of Mount Vernon, New York was arrested on by Scarsdale Police on 7 Mamaroneck and 1175 Post roads for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent.

7:53 p.m.— Property was delivered to an Aspen Road residence that did not belong to the homeowner.

10:30 p.m.— A live-in assistant called from Birchall Road to report to patrol that her employer had grabbed her hands during a disagreement, causing slight lacerations. The complainant did not wish to press charges, and merely wanted to document the incident for future reference. All was in good order upon patrol’s departure.

Sunday, May 8

11:25 a.m.— A concerned caller reported an elderly male clad in a blue sweater riding his bike down the center line of 59 Weaver Street and 1 Crossway. Police canvassed the area with negative results.

12:11 p.m.— A Nelson Road resident called police concerned about his sister’s welfare after he had called her multiple times over the course of several days without any response. The caller stated that he had a key to his sister’s residence, but refused to enter it due to civil issues. Patrol checked with the sister’s neighbors, who had not seen her for more than a week. After observing that the lawn had not been mowed for weeks, the complainant provided police entry to his sister’s residence to check on her welfare. The sister was located on the second floor, and advised that she had not been picking up the phone, but was unaware that the police were knocking on her door. After being reassured that the woman did not require any assistance, patrol followed up with the complainant and referred the incident to Detective Albano.

1:08 p.m.— An adolescent male was reported driving a white car erratically near 15 Hathaway Road. According to the caller, the teenager possessed a prior history of reckless driving. Police arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant, who was unable to give further identifying information to locate the driver.

7:44 p.m.— A Scarsdale Avenue homeowner reported that his 18-year-old daughter had been missing since the prior day. Police arrived on scene and spoke to the father of the missing girl, who believed that his daughter was with her boyfriend, who resides at Boulevard. Police contacted the daughter’s boyfriend, who notified police that he was indeed with the missing girl. The complainant’s daughter agreed to return to her parents’ residence and was transported home by patrol. Police contacted the missing girl’s parents and referred them to family counseling services. No further police action was required.

Monday, May 9

8:42 a.m.— A man reported that his wallet was stolen after purchasing items at the CVS store at 7 Popham Road. Upon leaving the store, the man walked eastbound on Popham Road to the Chase Bank on 8 East Parkway. Upon attempting to use the ATM machine, the man discovered his wallet missing. The complainant described his wallet as a black leather bi-fold “Mont Blanc” wallet valued at $400 containing several credit cards, Ids, personal papers and approximately $480. Patrol searched the CVS and surrounding vicinity but did not find the wallet.

9:53 a.m.— A caller from Ridgedale Road reported that a neighbor’s dog had been barking continuously without cessation. Police arrived and observed the barking for approximately 20 minutes before issuing a Village Code summons to the homeowner for section 205:1E, or animal causing loud and continuous noise.

11:31 a.m.— A loose dog, possibly a Pit Bull, wearing a collar was spotted running loose on 1 Taunton and 5 Tisdale roads. Police did not locate the animal.

11:52 a.m.— A medium-sized brown dog was seen running loose on 18 Ridgecrest West. Police gained possession of the dog and returned to its owner, who arrived on scene to pick up the animal.

 6:51 p.m.— A bicycle was stolen from the bike rack in front of the Starbucks on 51 East Parkway.

7:45 p.m.— A Meadow Road homeowner dialed 911 after noticing an older model black Honda Accord with a possible New York license plate parked in front of her neighbor’s home. The caller believed that the vehicle was casing her neighbor’s house, but was unable to give a detailed description of the individual occupying the vehicle. Patrol arrived and spotted a gray Honda Accord with New York plates on Meadow Road at Hutchinson Avenue. Police followed the vehicle, but lost sight of it on the Hutchinson River Parkway. Police returned to Meadow Road to report their findings to complainants.
