Scarsdale Police Blotter: Suspicious Photographers, Fights at the Scarsdale Shell and Raccoons, Raccoons, Raccoons

This week in Scarsdale, a man reported suspicious individuals taking pictures of his grandson, two mechanics engaged in a physical altercation at the Scarsdale Shell and sick raccoons roamed the Village streets.

3:22 p.m.— A caller from the Bank of America on 1140 Wilmot Road reported that two checks were cashed against her checking account.

3:35 p.m.— A man and his grandson became concerned for their safety after observing two unknown males in their 40s taking pictures of them from a blue van on Continental Road. The man reported the incident to police, and stated that his daughter was currently embroiled in divorce proceedings. He was unaware if the incident was related or not, and requested extra ridebys near his residence during police hours.

7:57 p.m.— A Fenimore Road resident called police to report that his ex-girlfriend may be outside his residence and that he would like her to leave the area.

Tuesday, March 1

9:12 a.m.— A caller reported that her rented white Chevrolet had been stolen from her Popham Road parking space. Police canvassed the area and located the vehicle on East Parkway. The car’s doors were locked and contained no evidence of tampering.

10:07 a.m.— A Fox Meadow School employee called police after sighting a sick raccoon walking on Brewster Road towards Chesterfield. Police did not locate the animal.

2:45 p.m.— Another sick raccoon sighting was reported from Scarsdale High School, where a caller observed the ill animal walking across the football field. Police canvassed the football field and surrounding area to no avail.

4:12 p.m.— A caller from Village Hall reported that he was the victim of identity theft. An offense report was filed.

4:22 p.m.— A  caller from Quentin Road requested police assistance after his father took away his car keys. Police dismissed the incident after the caller's father advised police that his son was currently attending Alcoholics Anonymous classes and was 14 days sober. All was in good order upon departure. 

11:26 p.m.— A Fenimore Road resident was present at police dispatch to report a harassing party who had been consistently ringing his doorbell and parking in front of his house. The complainant advised that the party had left the area, and did not want to file a police report at the time. Police told him to contact dispatch if the party returned to the area.

Wednesday, March 2

12:28 a.m.— A suspicious vehicle with its lights switched on was parked at the intersection of 40 Tompkins and 43 Cohawney roads. Police reported to the scene, but the vehicle had left the area.

8:55— A car backed into a complainant’s vehicle at the Scarsdale Middle School Tennis House on 140 Mamaroneck Road.

2:37 p.m.— A large dog was reported as running loose on 169 Lyons Road. Police canvassed the area but did not find the animal.

5:16 p.m.— An assault was reported to police by a mechanic at the Scarsdale Shell on 852 Scarsdale Ave., whose verbal argument with a co-worker regarding work issues escalated into pushing and shoving. The Shell Station owner interfered in the incident and managed to separate the two men. Neither party wished to file further police action. Police questioned other Shell Station employees to no avail. The station’s owner reported that both mechanics had been at odds with each other recently due to their competitive natures, and stated that he would make schedule adjustments between the two men. No further police assistance was needed.

8:17 p.m.— Property was stolen out of a vehicle parked at the Hoff Barthelson Music School on 25 School Lane. 

8:41 p.m.— A Fox Meadow Road resident stated that Working Party solicitors yelled at him and refused to leave his property. Police did not locate the individuals.

8:52 p.m.— A caller complained that a dog on Stonehouse Road had been barking loudly for a considerable period of time. When contacted, the dog’s owner stated that the dog had been brought inside. No further action was required.

Thursday, March 3

8:36 – A sick raccoon was seen walking on the intersection of 2 Berkeley Road and 74 Walworth Ave. Police did not locate the animal.

12:59 p.m.— A caller from Axtell Drive stated that she had been receiving unwanted phone calls from the same number.

12:59 p.m.— The owner of Beautiful Home Center on 37 Popham Road reported that two gold rings had disappeared after she ahd removed them from her left hand and left them unsupervised on her desk for a period of time. The rings were eventually located in the garbage can next to the caller’s desk.

1:15 p.m.— An incident report was filed at police headquarters after a Brite Avenue resident arrived to report telephone harassment.

2:37 p.m.— An auto accident involving a bus occurred at the intersection of 72 Palmer Ave. and 217 Mamaroneck Road.

5:07 p.m.— A reckless driver was reported on East Parkway and 4 Popham Road.
