Scarsdale Police Blotter: Text Threats, Pilfered Passports and Sewing Snafus

This week in Scarsdale, passports were pilfered from money-owing boyfriends, overseas text messages threatened the safety of a local attorney and an elderly resident didn't allow anyone to interfere with her sewing – including her husband's health aide.

10:38 p.m. – A loud party filled with noisy teenagers caused a Rectory Lane resident to voice his complaints to police. Patrol arrived and spoke with the homeowner, who stated that a friendly gathering was being hosted at his residence. Police advised him to suppress the soiree's noise, and the homeowner extended an apology. All was in good order upon departure.

12:44 a.m. – A boy received medical attention following a call from his mother, who reported that he had sustained injuries after being hit by a car on Crane Road.

6:47 a.m. – A caller reported a white SUV with blinking lights parked on Stratton Road for an extended period of time. Patrol canvassed the area with negative results.

10:04 a.m.— An unidentified male wearing a gray overcoat and a dark colored ski cap was seen loitering around a Beechwood Lane resident, staring up at the home's second floor. The homeowner reportedly caught the trespasser's attention, causing him to walk out of sight towards the front of the property. Concerned that the stranger was casing his house, the resident called the police. Patrol examined the area, but did not sight any suspicious activity.

11:33 p.m. – A family attorney called police after receiving warning of a death threat from a client's husband. Upon arrival, patrol spoke with the attorney, who attested that three days prior, her client had gotten a text message from her soon-to-be ex-husband regarding her lawyer's safety.  The client's husband is currently overseas with his current significant other, whose father apparently wished harm upon the attorney. The attorney will try to procure her client's soon-to-be ex-husband's contact information, along with the original text message and any other evidence that may sustain an aggravated harassment charge.

Saturday, Dec. 18

1:34 a.m. – A caller reported that someone hit her car on 63 Stratton Road. No injuries were reported.

2:26 a.m. – Two vehicle operators were injured after a collision occurred near the Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center on Wilmot Road. Patrol assisted with traffic control, and a male was transported to Westchester Medical Center for chest pain.

5:04 a.m.— A woman called police after witnessing a Hispanic male wearing a tan jacket and white pants defacing a sign near 2 Fenimore Road and 2 Bronx River Parkway. Patrol contacted the Westchester County Police Department after searching the area to no avail.

7:31 p.m. – County fire control requested mutual aid for the care of a 79-year-old male on Malverne Lane, whose high fever caused him to slip in and out of consciousness. SVAC responded and transported the ailing party to White Plains Hospital.

10:56 p.m. – Police received a complaint from a Wayside Lane homeowner who wanted his 21-year-old son removed from the residence. Yelling was overheard in the background. Upon arrival, patrol spoke to the father, who had been involved in an prior argument with his son. The son finally left the house prior to the police's arrival. No further police action was required.

Sunday, Dec. 19

7:40 a.m. – An area resident reported a coyote going into Red Maple Swamp. Police scanned the area, but did not locate the coyote.

12:58 p.m. – An elderly Birchhall Drive resident got into an argument with their husband's home health aid after she asked the aide to leave the room so she could concentrate on her sewing. The aide, who had been attending to the resident's husband, disagreed with the request. A dispute arose between the two, causing a caller to voice their concerns to police. Eventually, the aide and the resident's husband voluntarily went to another room. No further police assistance was requested.

10:39 p.m. – A woman phoned police from Potter Road to report that her boyfriend had yet to reimburse her fourteen-year-old son for a $200 loan. She further stated that she was holding her boyfriend's passport until he gave her son the money. Police spoke to the boyfriend, who had negotiated with the son to pay him on Thursday. Patrol told the caller that the situation regarding the money was a civil matter, and could be referred to civil court if the money was not paid by Thursday. The boyfriend's passport was returned, and he left the residence on his own will. All was in good order upon patrol departure.
