Scarsdale Police Ticket 169 Drivers In Seat Belt Safety Campaign
The SPD issued summons to those not buckled up during the NY State's Seat Belt Enforcement program.

Click it or ticket. That was the motto were following when they issued 169 summons during a recent safety campaign.
"The Scarsdale Police Department recently participated in a two-week initiative aimed at getting drivers to buckle up," Det. Lt. Thomas Altizio said in a statement. "The department joined a statewide effort targeting drivers
who operate their vehicles without wearing seat belts and who fail to buckle in child passengers."
SPD officers, as part of the greater New York state's Seat Belt Enforcement Program, looked for adult drivers and passengers that were not buckled up.

Police officers issued 169 summons during the campaign, according to Altizio.
The safety campaign was aimed at drivers who "put themselves and children at risk by not buckling up everyone in the vehicle," he said.

Of the 169 summons issued, "34 motorists were cited for not wearing seat belts and an additional 5 were cited for not having their children properly secured by seat belts. Among other violations, 11 were issued for using a cell phone while driving, 35 were issued for disobeying traffic controls and 31 speeding violations were issued," Altizio said.
