Completion of Service Project, Merit Badges and More Were Required to Receive the Prestigious Honor

Aidan Connolly, a senior at Yonkers Middle/High School, was conferred with his Eagle Scout badge in a special Court of Honor ceremony held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Lower Church in Scarsdale on January 26.
His parents, Edward and Colette Connolly, as well as members of his troop, Scarsdale Troop 2, surrounded the teen as he received scouting’s highest honor.
Local dignitaries, including New York State Senator Shelley Mayer, Westchester County Legislator David Tubiolo, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, and Councilman and Yonkers Minority Leader Mike Breen, were all present for the ceremony.

Like other Eagle scouts before him, the 18-year-old, an honors student in the International Baccalaureate program at YHS, had to fulfill specific requirements before gaining the prestigious badge. Aidan earned three Eagle palms, a total of 40 merit badges, completed a service project, and took on a number of leadership roles within the troop before being named an Eagle.
For his Eagle project, Aidan, along with help from troop leaders and the other scouts, tore down an old arbor at the Weinberg Nature Center in Scarsdale and replaced it with a newly constructed one.
