Scarsdale Women Join Together for a Morning of Inspiration
UJA-Federation of New York Scarsdale Women's Campaign Kickoff Features Keynote Speaker Alison Lebovitz
UJA-Federation of New York’s Scarsdale Women spent an inspirational morning with Alison Goldstein Lebovitz, a speaker, author, television host, and nonprofit executive who believes each of us has the power and responsibility to make this world a better place. The event took place on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Shaarei Tikvah in Scarsdale.
Attendees also heard from a former resident at the Mann Center, a residential treatment center run by UJA nonprofit partner the Jewish Board, who shared the challenges she faced and how she was able to work towards her recovery. Lebovitz, the co-founder and president of One Clip at a Time, a nonprofit that promotes student activism and supports service learning in classrooms across North America, delivered the keynote address, highlighting, through storytelling, how to live and give by example and pass our values on to the next generation.
“My parents instilled in me the importance of giving back. That’s why I am here today, and why I have been active in UJA for many years,” said Mauri Zemachson. “From caring for Holocaust survivors and helping families move from crisis to stability, to building a thriving Jewish community for the future and strengthening Israel, UJA focuses on issues that are making headlines, and those that have been on our radar for years”, commented Kate Eichel. Zemachson and Eichel co-chair the UJA Scarsdale board and both reside in Scarsdale.

A portion of the funds raised at the event will be used to fund Thanksgiving meals for the residents of residential treatment centers supported by UJA through the Jewish Board. In addition to the Jewish Board, UJA-Federation supports a network of more than 80 core partners and hundreds of other nonprofit organizations, large and small. These nonprofits provide food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, independence for the elderly, jobs for the unemployed, as well as stimulating education programs for people in New York, in Israel, and in nearly 70 countries.
