Scarsdale's Jane Veron Named "Daily Point of Light"

National Award Recognizes Work of The Acceleration Project in Westchester and Beyond

Jane Veron, CEO and co-founder of The Acceleration Project (TAP), has received a Daily Point of Light Award for her outstanding service work. Jane co-founded TAP in 2012 to harness the talent of women who donate corporate-level business acumen to empower small businesses and minorities. The organization has served over 100 clients through its high-touch programs and impacted hundreds more through its large -scale projects.

The Daily Point of Light award is given each weekday by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Founded in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush to recognize individuals creating meaningful change in their communities, the organization grants the awards in both the United States and United Kingdom.

“This award recognizes exceptional individuals who are using their time, talent, voice and treasure to improve the lives of others,” said Jaqueline Innocent, vice president, Points of Light Recognition Programs. “These points of light, like Jane Veron, make an impact on individuals while also helping build resilient communities.”

Jane spent her career in strategic planning and marketing for Fortune 500 companies, including working as a management consultant at Bain & Company, and a marketing executive at American Express. She also managed her own private consulting business. Today, she donates her skills to assist struggling small business owners, and recruit dozens of similarly qualified women professionals to do the same. Through TAP, volunteers proudly practice and broaden their skills, while smaller, often minority-owned, companies - and the communities where they’re located - benefit from solid, professional consulting advice.

“The entire economic landscape had shifted, and I saw that small businesses were getting battered by the Internet,” said Veron. “It pained me to see entrepreneurs who were so dedicated to their product or service struggling to compete. They didn’t necessarily have the business tools to confront it,” she continued. “I knew there was this incredible pool of talent, primarily women who left the workforce to care for families, who had extensive skills and experience. I thought, ‘Why don’t I identify, train and mobilize these professionals, and have them advise these business owners?’ The Acceleration Project has been successful beyond my wildest dreams. Every day, I wake up energized and excited to do the work I do.”
