Scarsdale's Work Week Weather: Dog Days of Summer

SCARSDALE, NY — We're kicking off a late July work week with weather that's, well, summery. "A SW wind will pull a fair bit of humidity into our region," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "That should make for a bit of a sticky day… but not a completely uncomfortable day."

However, he pointed out, "Due to the heating of the day, and the mid-level trough that is in our area… atmospheric instability could be high enough for one or two of these storms to become severe."

Here's the forecast from the National Weather Service for southern Westchester:

• This Afternoon: Partly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind around 9 mph.
• Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southeast wind around 6 mph.
• Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the morning.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
• Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
• Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.
