Two Men Arrested in Larchmont Crossing Guard Assault

Incident occurred just as school was letting out on Thursday.

Two New Rochelle residents have been charged in connection with the assault of an elderly crossing guard at in Larchmont on May 17, Lt. Robert Koziak, spokesperson for the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department said.

Anthony Vaccaro, 37, of 640 Pelham Rd. in New Rochelle has been charged with obstructing governmental administration and leaving the scene of an accident with injury, both misdemeanors. 

Lucian Cappello, 32, of 16 Park Ave. in New Rochelle was charged with obstructing governmental administration and third-degree assault, both misdemeanors.

The 66-year-old crossing guard was Avenues at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, when Vaccaro and Cappello approached him in a black Nissan Rogue. A verbal dispute occurred over an unknown matter, and the guard was struck in the chest by Cappello. 

Both men fled in the Rogue, with Vaccaro, the driver of the vehicle, striking the guard on his right leg with the car.

Both men are being held in police custody pending arraignment in Town of Mamaroneck court, said Koziak.
