Update: 1500 Left Without Power, National News
Three hours ago Scarsdale's plight for power made national news on CBS – tonight, only 1,500 homes are left without power and schools are poised to open their doors.
A few hours ago Scarsdale's fight for the right to light made national news – and at this hour only 1,500 homes are still in the dark, already down from 2,500 counted just this afternoon.
Calls to Con Ed's press office in Westchester were not returned, but luckily Mayor Carolyn Stevens was, as always, on hand.
According to a 9:17 p.m. e-mail from Mayor Carolyn Stevens:

"The number of road closures is down to 27 with 17 being actively worked on...They hope to have all roads open by 9:00 AM tomorrow (with the exception of Sherbrook). There are 18 crews that will be working through the night."
"I was interviewed today by Fox morning show (live); CBS and ABC. All have carried stories about Scarsdale's problem with Con Ed. Diane Sawyer used part of a the ABC piece on her national news show."
"We are finally making real progress."
