Update: Body Found in Indiana Creek Not Lauren Spierer

A body found in an Indianapolis Creek this weekend may be that of the missing Greenburgh college student.

Update, 6 p.m.: An Indianapolis news outlet is reporting the autopsy revealed the remains are not Lauren Spierer. According to the report, Bloomington, IN, Police Lieutenant Willam Parker released a statement that reads:

"With regard to the body recovered from Fall Creek on July 3rd by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Bloomington Police Department has been notified that the dental records for Lauren Spierer do not appear to match. As this ends our involvement in this recovery, we will not have any further release about the recovered body."

Update1:30 p.m.: The Huffington Post is now reporting the body is likely not Lauren Spierer, as it appears to be a black woman (Spierer is white).

Indianapolis police confirmed finding an unidentified woman's body in a local creek this weekend and have contacted investigators searching for missing Hartsdale college student Lauren Spierer, the Huffington Post reported Monday.

On June 3, Spierer—a 20-year-old Edgemont High School alumna—, where she is a student at Indiana University. According to another student, she was last seen walking away from a sports bar where she had been drinking.

Spierer suffers from Long QT syndrome, a heart condition that sometimes requires medicine.

The Huffington Post story reports that an autopsy is scheduled for today—and that "police hope the forensic examination provides more information about the woman's identity."
