Ardsley Scout Thomas M. Sassalos III worked with our Veterans Committee and town officials restoring a World War I plaque that is now located at DeSanti Veterans Memorial Plaza. The World War ! plaque was in bad shape, located in a remote location. Thomas earned his Eagle Scout badge in recognition of this community service project. He restored the plaque, arranged to have the plaque moved to a very prominent location at our veterans memorial park and created 2 gardens near the park will now become a "Memorial Perennial Peace garden". The gardens will have a combination of perennials accented with native plants. Many of these plants will have significant meanings for our military such as "Regard" and "Chivalry" for Daffodils etc. The stone was installed on October 15 and on October 22nd the Ardsley Scouts planted the plants in the two gardens which will be blooming throughout the seasons.
