• Vigil of Hope against addiction — Not waiting until problems are at your door (timesreview.com) — Shelter Island residents are invited to the Sixth Annual Vigil of Hope at Fiske Field on Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m., focusing on addiction and grief support. Local speakers, including the town social worker, will outline available services, answer anonymous questions, and connect attendees with organizations offering help to those struggling and their families. 
• Some Heights Post Office boxes closed (timesreview.com) — Shelter Island Heights Post Office has closed a number of PO boxes after a district audit flagged them as not renewed, disrupting mail for residents and businesses. Town officials are pressing postal authorities for answers and worry Shelter Island Center’s post office could face similar closures, while affected users have 30 days before mail is returned.
• North Fork house of the week and real estate transfers: Aug. 5, 2026 (timesreview.com) — Recent real estate transfers show two high-value Shelter Island properties changing hands, including a Cove Way home sold for over $4 million. The roundup also lists other North Fork sales and highlights a Laurel “house of the week,” giving a snapshot of current area market activity.
