3 Hurt In Crash Between Suffolk Police Car, Minibus

A police officer and two adults on the minibus were taken to the hospital after the crash Friday morning.

SHIRLEY, NY – Three people were taken to the hospital after a crash between a Suffolk County police car and a minibus Friday morning.

According to police, a minibus was traveling eastbound on McGraw Street and attempting to make a left onto William Floyd Parkway in Shirley when it collided with a Seventh Precinct police car traveling southbound on the parkway at about 7:40 a.m.

The police car was en route, with lights and siren activated, to answer a call of two suspicious males in the area, police said.

The officer was being treated at Stony Brook University Hospital and was expected to be released Friday. There were two adults and one student on the minibus. The adults were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center for evaluation. The student was not injured and released to a parent.
