• 4 Rescued In Pre-Dawn Save From Stranded Boat That Ran Aground In Atlantic Ocean Off LI Beach (patch.com) — Four people were safely rescued before dawn after their 31-foot boat ran aground on a sandbar just off Smith Point County Park in Shirley, drawing a large multi-department response. Crews from several local fire departments and the Coast Guard coordinated in rough, pre-storm conditions, removing three passengers while the captain stayed aboard awaiting Sea Tow. No injuries were reported.
