Development In Long Island Home Invasion Case Involving Rape: DA
Suffolk law enforcement officials are expected to make an announcement Tuesday in Hauppauge, DA Ray Tierney's office says.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — Suffolk law enforcement officials are expected to brief the media Tuesday about developments in the investigation into a home invasion involving a rape two weeks ago in Mastic Beach, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney's office said.
Tierney is expected to be joined by Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison at his office in Hauppauge, according to a news release issued Monday afternoon. No other details have been released.
Rumors were circulating last week that there was an arrest in the case but police have not commented.

At about 4 p.m. on April 19,woman was sexually assaulted after two males, who were described as in their teens or early 20s, broke into her home in Mastic Beach, said police, adding that one of them "sexually and physically assaulted her," and then the pair ran away with "cash and property."
The two went inside the home and one of them attacked "one of the people" inside the house and raped her," said Harrison told reporters just after the attack, adding that the pair made off with some cash and other property.

"This is a horrible incident," he added.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment, Det. Lt. Dylan Friedlander said, adding that, "Thankfully, she is recovering in the hospital — they are not life-threatening injuries."
Suffolk's Special Victims Section is investigating the case.
The pair were described as black, and one was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants with a white stripe, while the second was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and light-colored pants, according to police.
In a surveillance video, the pair can be seen walking in the street past the driveway of a home nearby.

Harrison said investigators are hoping that the video will help lead them to the suspects, and urged anyone with information to notify the department.
"We put a lot of resources over to make sure that we apprehend this individual as quickly as possible," he added.
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (631) 852-8791 Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 Fast Cash reward for information leading to arrests in the case. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
