Legislators Honor Newest Eagle Scouts Of Troop 414

On Sunday, September 12, Legislator Mazzarella joined with Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine and Boy Scout Troop 414 for the Eagle Scout Ceremony for Brendon Conner and Kurtis Chamberlain.

“Having the opportunity to recognize two young leaders that have already accomplished a significant feat in their lives is a great honor.” Stated legislator Mazzarella. “Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is truly an accomplishment you carry with you for the rest of your life.”

To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must earn at minimum 21 merit badges, serve their Troop in a leadership position, and complete a service project to benefit their community, known as their Eagle project.

Brendan Conner’s Eagle Project was the construction of a drop-box for the not-for-profit organization Helping Makes You Happy in Center Moriches. This box enables people to make donations even when the building itself is closed.

Kurtis Chamberlains Eagle Project was the construction of a garden table and benches for William Paca Middle School. This project allows teachers to bring students into the school courtyard to learn about horticulture and environmental sustainability.

The process of working towards the rank of Eagle Scout teaches our young adults skills that will benefit them for their entire lives.” Said Mazzarella. “I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for these two amazing young men.”
