Littlest Beekeepers Talk Hives, Honey In Elementary School

Could these kids be any more adorable?

SHIRLEY, NY — The lesson was sweet as honey at John S. Hobart Elementary School in Shirley lately as second graders met a genuine Long Island beekeeper.

Students were thrilled to welcome Joan Mahoney for a presentation about bees, the district said.

Students learned about the importance of bees in society, the jobs they do within the hive, how they communicate, the different varieties of bees and even how they build hives, educators added.
