Man Charged With DWI After Crash That Injured Mom, 3 Girls: Cops

The Shirley man was charged with driving while intoxicated after the crash that left a mom and her 3 little girls injured, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A Shirley man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a Farmingville crash that left a mother and her three young daughters injured Friday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at Country Route 83, north of South Bicycle Path at 5:06 p.m.

Chris Montpetit, 36, was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

Erika Bautista, 31, of Farmingville and her three daughters were inside a northbound 2015 Honda, which had become disabled in the right lane, when it was struck in the rear by a 2018 Jeep driven by Montpetit, police said.

Bautista and her daughters, ages 4 and 8, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said. Bautista's 10-year-old daughter was transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.

Montpetit was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, police said.
