Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Shirley Crash: Police

The crash took place early Wednesday, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a Shirley crash early Wednesday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place on the William Floyd Parkway, just south of Montauk Highway, at about 1:40 a.m.


A 34-year-old man from Shirley was driving a 2013 Dodge Dart southbound on William Floyd Parkway, just south of Montauk Highway, when he struck a pedestrian, Luis Segura-Soto, 62, of Shirley, who was crossing the roadway from west to east, police said.

Segura-Soto was transported by Shirley Community Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The driver was not injured and no charges were filed, police said.

The Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
