Raging Fire Rips Through Vehicle In Shirley: Fire Officials

The raging fire broke out in a vehicle very near the Rite Aid early Tuesday, officials say.

SHIRLEY, NY – The Mastic Fire Department's Chemical Company #1 responded to a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in Shirley Tuesday morning.

According to a post on Chemical Company #1's Facebook page, at 7:30 a.m., right at the start of the morning rush hour, department members raced to the intersection of William Floyd Pkwy. and McGraw St., near the Rite Aid, where a Chevy Trailblazer was a fiery inferno.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the "heavy fire" coming from the vehicle; no injuries were reported and firefighters knocked down the blaze in under a half hour, officials said.
