Woman Stole Cash From Man Who Dropped Wallet: Cops

SHIRLEY, NY — A woman stole $400 from a wallet dropped by a man at a Shirley convenience store last month, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers are asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the woman who took the cash on June 24; a man dropped his wallet inside the Speedway convenience store located on William Floyd Parkway, police said. A woman picked up the wallet and took the $400 in cash before fleeing, police said.

The woman is described as black, with short brown hair and a thin build; she was wearing a dark-colored top, white pants and burgundy sneakers, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the incident can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, texting “SCPD” and a message to “CRIMES” (274637) or by emailing www.tipsubmit.com. All calls, text messages and emails will be kept confidential.
