15 Smithtown Students Named Commended Students

A total of 15 students from the Smithtown School District were recently recognized as Commended Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program for their outstanding academic achievement on their PSAT exams.

Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied selection index score that may vary from year to year.

Seven students from Smithtown High School East were named Commended student including:

• Jacob Tehranian
• Shrey Thaker

From Smithtown High School West, the eight students recognized include:

• Julia Gutierrez
• Asli Kizilkaya
• Edward Lorrain
• Reed Passaretti
• Steven Spreizer Jr.
