2 Horses Freed After Falling In Smithtown Ravine
The horses are "expected to make a full recovery," police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — A pair of horses fell in a ravine on Landing Meadow Road in Smithtown on Thursday morning, Suffolk police said. The call came in at 11:12 a.m.
The horses are "expected to make a full recovery" after they were freed by Emergency Service Section officers about an hour later, Suffolk police said. The officers were helped by members of the Smithtown and Commack fire departments. The horses were checked out by a veterinarian at the scene.
The horses fell into a well-like area and were unable to free themselves, Rick Torre, Smithtown Fire Department public information officer, told Patch. Through a combined team effort, the first horse was freed at 12:23 p.m., and the second at 1:08 p.m. The horses suffered minor injuries.
