3 Injured, 1 Seriously In Smithtown Crash

A 20-year-old woman and her brother, along with the 19-year-old driver of a second car, were hospitalized after the crash early Saturday.

SMITHTOWN, NY - Three people, one seriously, were injured in a crash in Smithtown early Saturday, according to Suffolk Police.

Emily Loach, 20, of Smithtown was driving a 2017 Honda Accord eastbound in the left lane on Nesconset Highway near Southern Boulevard when she tried to make a right turn and struck an eastbound 2010 Jeep in the right lane at about 1:49 a.m.

The collision caused the Jeep, driven by 19-year-old Neiko Genao, of Centereach, to overturn.

Loach was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Her brother, 17-year-old Thomas Loach, of Smithtown, a passenger in the Honda, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Genao was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger in the Honda and two passengers in the Jeep were not injured and declined medical treatment at the scene.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
