JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — Attitude & Energy (2 poems)
Wherein JWG welcomes each morning with positive thinking.
30. Attitude
Attitude
When it is good is excellent for health.
When it’s not, it’s hell.
Positive thinking
Are two simple words that are difficult
To comprehend and embrace.

One tends to dwell on the past,
Forgetting the good that has buffered one,
Focussing on all bad memories.
When one is around a complainer
Who is facing brutal reality,
One hears a future of only gloom and doom.

Optimists can be worn down.
Their encouragement and love is ignored.
They shake their heads not understanding.
A kick in the pants
Doesn’t help those who do not help themselves.
They thrive on the attention.
Ignoring
The indisposed is the harshest answer
I can recommend.
31. Energy
Energy
Is at its highest, for me, in mornings.
I can’t stay in bed.
Fueling my engine
With tea and pre-breakfast of granola
Is what I look forward to.
Writing, baking, gardening
Loom, but, instead of thinking about them,
Are always best when done right away.
I determine the morning’s success
By looking back at the work accomplished.
Sleeping in the morning does not get work done.
I consider taking naps.
Something always hinders that luxury.
There’s always something to do.
The priorities
I’ve made are many. Most important is
Planning work for the next day.
As day ends,
Vivification is welcome to me.
I tend to forget.
