JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — I Have Looked & Peaceful Days (2 poems)

Wherein JWG is happy to know that among unendurable tumult Peace is possible.

87. I Have Looked

I have looked
Through the broad arch of a fading Rainbow
And seen emptiness.

The clue is “fading”.
Never allow color to disappear.
Believing is powerful.

White and black are colorful
When imagination sees the beauty
That is ultimately discovered.

Rejuvenated senses reveal
Details that have never before been seen.
Remembering demands focussed energy.

Whenever the light is dim,
Memory is cushioned by Happiness
To fill chasms developed by fright.

Rainbows reappear
When the mind’s eye sees behind the blank walls
Imagined to clear clutter.

When looking,
Notice that when Rainbows appear in rain,
Sunlight makes magic.

88. Peaceful Days

Peaceful Days
Have become usual and expected.
Mornings are best.

As each Day begins,
I arise and have a cup of green tea
And what I call “pre-breakfast”.

I glance at the newspaper
Which does nothing but irritate my mind
By emphasizing all the bad news.

I have another cup of green tea
While looking at the Zwerglipatch Gardens.
Instantly, I am calmed and think pleasant thoughts.

Warm seasons bring new flowers.
Each morning is greeted by a fresh bloom;
Even though expected, I’m surprised.

I’m happy to know
That among unendurable tumult
Peace is possible.

My mind rests.
Security is properly attained
When I am tranquil.
