JWG's Grand Hodgepodge — Pondering & Censorship (2 poems)

Wherein JWG ponders trusting Life's journey.

34. Pondering

Pondering
Pleasure’s ceiling and misery’s cellar.
(Who opened that door?)

The highs and the lows
Averaged together make up the whole
Housing in which Lives are made.

Better than unhappiness,
Good times swirl like a pinwheel in the wind
Until they blend into one big blur.

Experience makes the mental health
Either healthier or more despairing
Depending on the images one savors.

Dwelling on the Happiness
Enables floating slowly to the top
To see more clearly views created.

Picking and choosing
Memories to pack in well-worn luggage
Requires forgetting much chaff.

Life’s journey
Has the ability of remembrance,
Plus, looking forward.

35. Censorship

Censorship
Isn’t as necessary as we think
When properly taught.

“Do unto others...”
Headlines many universal teachings.
It’s the least followed.

The silencing to destroy
Is abominable and downright wrong.
Ultimately, this plan never works.

The loquaciousness we have to hear
From the voice boxes of the strong tyrants
Transforms ignorance into bastions of hate.

Stopped presses, bonfires, and bombs,
Utilized to still voices of reason,
Encourage roars of disapproval.

Bewilderization
Weakens the freedom of sharing ideas
By rewriting manuscripts.

Good with Bad.
Equals in the scope of understanding.
Without Trust, we’re doomed.
