I hear that people thought homophobia existed in laws; that people, themselves, did not show signs of homophobia. People make laws. Homophobia exists. People have to meet those they fear face-to-face. It is easy disliking the unknown.

In St. Petersburg, Russia, a law has been made that would fine, or imprison, any “gay” actions or words in public by both gay people and their friends. And, this law is being upheld. The Ukraine was going to vote on such a law, too. Fortunately, for now, the Ukraine has shelved this law to be voted on in the future. It should have been tossed out.

Here, in the States, the Governor of Arizona is bringing to the Supreme Court a law that does not give health benefits to same-sex couples. Her arrogance in ignoring the lower Courts’ opinions speaks volumes. I dare say that many communities, if they could, would implement a law akin to St. Petersburg. Homophobia is fear. It is generational. It has to be stopped. There is no reason, whatsoever, to be homophobic.
