JWG's Necessity June 15, 2012

Anniversary festivities are being planned. This morning, I sent to The LI LGBT Center some pictures of the two of us to be included in an installation which will be of those of us who are now married. We hope to meet up with our Friends at the event on the twenty-second which will celebrate the First Anniversary of the New York State law. It will be a fun season.

In actuality, I don’t really think about being “married”. A Partnership was made and is the foremost in my mind. The few times that I have felt impelled to refer to my “Spouse”, instead of “Partner”, it sounds alien. I am sure that this disbelief will evaporate. After all, we had decades as “Partners” and not even one year as “Spouses”. We are still Newlyweds!

We are Newlyweds with a Home. We have always wanted a Home. Circumstance is reflective. One can use the word “fate”, but, that word berates “work”. Our work, together, has made us, and lead us, into a Home that is Ours.
