Breaking New Ground to Restore Smithtown's Past

Ceremonial ground breaking at the Smithtown Historical Society's Judge John Lawrence Smith Homestead Scheduled for noon, Tuesday, April 7th!

On Tuesday, April 7th, 2015 at 12 p.m., Smithtown Historical Society Executive Director Kiernan Lannon and Board President Brad Harris will be joined by Society Trustees, Representatives of Village of the Branch, Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Barbara Franco, Mark Mancini of Mancini Architecture and Matt Fleece of School House Remodeling Company for a ceremonial ground breaking. The event is to mark the start of an exciting buildings & grounds project made possible by a generous anonymous donor. After receiving some much need preservation work, the Judge John Lawrence Smith Homestead is now ready for the restoration of its front porch. Once a beautiful gathering spot for the family, this architectural feature was lost over time as the structure underwent multiple renovations. SHS is excited for the opportunity to bring it back to its original glory!
