Ex-Principal Sees Cats and Rats, but no Unicorns
Paul Graf may have retired, but he is still playing his guitar.
For a quarter-century, Paul Graf entertained students at Smithtown Elementary by singing songs with a guitar in hand.
It made him a pretty memorable principal.
Though Graf retired from his full-time job last year, he is still putting on shows throughout the area, using his stage name Paul Henry.
We found Graf at the Town of Babylon's Venetian Shores Park on Saturday. Enjoy about a minute of his version of the Irish Rovers hit "The Unicorn Song," penned by the great children's book author Shel Silverstein.
Graf will be around Long Island all summer, so be on the lookout.
As for the retired life, Graf said he is enjoying it, though he misses being the principal.
"Of course I miss it, I love my work," he said. "But like everything else, you run out of gas."
