The Jeffrey K. Fisher Studio hosts it's first biannual Draw-a-thon
Attention all artists! Bring your paint pens pencils to this drawing bonanza you won't regret it!
The Jeffrey K. Fisher Drawing Studio will be hosting it’s first biannual 24 hour Draw-a-thon on Saturday August 29th in Smithtown, NY. For a full 24 hours local artists and students are invited to participate in this marathon style figure drawing session. Beginning at 12 noon on the 29th four different models will strike a pose for a full 24 hours. The models are being described by the studio as ‘some the finest models in our roster’ two of whom are professional Burlesque performers with an arsenal of costumes.
The Jeffrey K. Fisher Drawing Studio is a Smithtown based Art School/Collective where professionals, enthusiasts and students alike come together to draw learn all while having fun. The studio was first conceived over twenty years ago by the late Jeffrey K. Fisher, Smithtown resident and Professional Illustrator, to not only teach students how to draw but how to see. In the wake of his loss the denizens of students who’ve been involved, many of whom hold successful positions as professional and industry artists, have taken their place to keep the studio and the love of drawing alive.
When asked for a comment about the Draw-a-thon Studio manager Dean Geolz had this to say,”Needless to say, we are very excited about it [The Draw-a-thon]. Whenever anybody would complain about drawing class being too long, Jeff would say something like’ when I was a student we would have 16 hour figure drawing sessions.’ There isn’t anything like this happening anywhere around here, if you’re an artist you just can’t miss it.”
