Lake Grove Teen Dies During Band Practice At LI High School
The 17-year-old suffered from a "medical incident" during the practice on Monday night, according to multiple reports.

FARMINGVILLE, NY - A Lake Grove teen died during band practice at Sachem High School East on Monday night.
On Tuesday, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham confirmed the death in a statement.
"It is with deep sorrow that the district has learned that an incoming senior at Sachem North High School tragically passed away last night," Graham said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual's family and friends during this difficult time."

Suffolk Police confirmed to Newsday that officers responded to a call at the school at 9:15 p.m. for "a sick or injured person."
The student, identified as 17-year-old Maddie Sparrow, was at practice for the Sachem Arrows Marching Band at the school when she "suffered a medical incident," according to a report in CBS News.

She was then taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her death appears non-criminal.
Some told CBS News that the heat contributed to her death but students say the team was not in uniform and that Sparrow seemed "fine" prior to the incident.
Support services were available as of 8 a.m. on Tuesday at both high schools.
Last August, 16-year-old Joshua Mileto died after suffering an injury during an off-season football workout at Sachem High School East.
