Man Jumps Out Of Second Story Window During Smithtown House Fire
Firefighters battled the blaze for almost three hours Tuesday night.

SMITHTOWN, NY - A man was hospitalized after jumping out the window of his Smithtown home during a fire on Tuesday night, according to the Smithtown Fire Department.
The department received a report of a fire at a Brooksite Drive home at 10:31 p.m. Arriving firefighters were confronted with a heavy fire and began working on the blaze. Due to the extent of the fire, it was not declared under control until 1:10 a.m.

Members of the Hauppauge Fire Department, Nesconset Fire Department, St. James Fire Department and Commack Volunteer Ambulance all responded to assist.
There were two occupants in the home at the time of fire. The man who jumped from the second floor window was transported to the Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The female occupant was able to escape through a first floor door and was also transported to Stony Brook.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Smithtown fire marshal and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad.
