It's National Coffee Day! Where to Score a Free or Discounted Cup on Long Island

If caffeine is something you need in the morning to get you going, then National Coffee Day should put an extra spring in your step.

Various national and local chains are offering free or discounted coffee on Thursday, Sept. 29. We've made a list of stores where you can get your cheap caffeine fix.

Your local coffee shop may have its own discounts, so be sure to check with them.

• McDonald's: Get a with a free small hot or iced McCafé coffee redeemable at restaurants on Long Island and in New York City. Offer available the McDonald's mobile app, which can be downloaded directly onto smartphones or by visiting www.mcdonaldsnytristate.com.
• Dunkin' Donuts: Medium hot coffee will cost 66 cents in honor of the chain's 66th anniversary.
• Dairy Queen: Get a small iced coffee for $1 or an ultimate frappe or fruit smoothie for $2 until Friday.
• QuickChek: Download the free mobile app and get a free coffee.
• Birch Coffee: Get free drip coffee from 7-10 a.m. at any of its eight New York City locations.
• Krispy Kreme: Get a free coffee and a glazed doughnut (there's just one Krispy Kreme location in New York and it's inside Penn Station. Expect a long line.)
• Sweet Surrender Bake House: Get a free small or large coffee with any purchase at the bakery located at 297 Wantagh Avenue in Levittown.

Starbucks is not offering any deals to customers, but the national chain will give away free coffee trees to farmers in need for every cup of Mexico Chiapas coffee sold at participating locations on Thursday.
