Man Arrested For Robbing Smithtown Bank At Gunpoint
The robbery occurred on Thursday afternoon.

SMITHTOWN, NY - A Port Jefferson Station man was arrested for robbing a Smithtown bank at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.
Police received a report that a man entered New York Community Bank, located on 719 Nesconset Highway, at 1:45 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded money, police said.
The teller complied with the robber's demands and gave him cash from the drawer. The man then fled the bank on foot to a waiting car.

An officer found a car matching the description of the robber's car and pulled the driver over, police said.
The driver, Maximilian Beres, 29, was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
