New Nonprofit -"Pay-What-You-Can" Cafe
First Long Island Community Cafe Plans Launch Harmony Cafe will offer healthy meals in exchange for donations or time afforded by customers.
LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK, AUGUST 9, 2015 - Harmony Cafe is the latest non-profit cafe to announce its launch in Long Island, and it is also a first of its kind in the area. Customers pay the amount they are able to afford for their meals. If a customer can’t afford a donation in exchange for a delicious meal, then the customer is encouraged to volunteer his or her time to Harmony Cafe. The cafe is in its early stages and looks forward to opening its doors in the near future. We will be located in Suffolk, NY
Harmony Cafe is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The cafe is able to offer its services due to support from the community and donations. Harmony Cafe is looking to open its doors soon, but it runs the risk of never opening without community support.
The concept for Harmony Cafe comes from the One World Everybody Eats Foundation, an organization that has pioneered the community cafe movement with the philosophy that everyone should have access to healthy meals while being treated with respect and dignity. Currently, there are 52+ community cafes around the United States.

Harmony Cafe’s mission is to help fight local hunger and food insecurity. Harmony café believes in a “hand up and not a hand out”. People want to belong to their communities and have purpose. Harmony café will be the “Community Café”, where everybody is welcome and all people help to contribute to its success.
Harmony Cafe is optimistic about opening the doors of such a unique eatery in the area. The nonprofit is seeking community support and business sponsorships. The café is also searching for a viable location.

We are in need of a Board members or Advisory board that owns/manager a restaurant. Chefs-Fundraisers-Community Leaders-Farm workers/owners-Health professionals. Local artist are needed -we will be displaying work and supporting artist in the cafe. Music too!!
We need people that believe in our mission. We all have talents and skills to contribute to the cafe. You don’t need to have experience-you just need to have the passion to help others and to make change! We also would like to have partnerships with other local nonprofits. We are planning our first fundraiser and we are in need of a venue.
