New Principal Hired At Smithtown HS West: 'Tremendous Opportunity'

SMITHTOWN, NY — William Holl was hired as the new principal of Smithtown High School West effective July 1, the Smithtown School District announced.

He will replace the outgoing Joan Coady, who is retiring after this school year. Holl called it a "tremendous opportunity," according to a news release.

"I am incredibly excited and honored to have been given the opportunity to serve the Smithtown community as the new principal of Smithtown High School West," Holl said.

From 2020 through 2024, Holl has been the principal at East Moriches Middle School.

His career in education began as a high school physics teacher at Sachem North High School where he taught both Regents and Advanced Placement level courses. Holl also coached boys cross-country, winter track and field and spring track and field at the high school.

Holl’s administration journey began at Seneca Middle School in the Sachem Central School District where he worked as the middle school assistant principal from 2017 to 2019.
