Health officials say the resident, over 50, recovered at home but urge all Smithtown and Suffolk residents to protect against mosquito bites and watch for symptoms, especially older adults or those with health conditions.
   

• LI high school sports roundup: Volleyball and soccer scores (newsday.com) — Smithtown West boys soccer moved into first place in Suffolk IV with a 2–1 win over Hauppauge, powered by goals from Michael Amoroso and Emilio Cuevas. The wider roundup highlights strong volleyball and soccer performances across Long Island, but Smithtown readers will especially note their local team's surge in the standings.
   

• Suffolk Supervisors Call For Albany To Address Unfunded Mandates And Property Tax Pressures (patch.com) — Smithtown Supervisor Edward Wehrheim joined other Suffolk town leaders in pressing Albany to ease unfunded mandates and rethink the property tax cap, saying state-driven costs are squeezing local budgets. Their joint letter to Gov. Hochul seeks more flexibility so towns like Smithtown can maintain services without piercing the tax cap or overburdening homeowners.
