Officers Rescue 2 Cats From Burning Home

In addition, firefighters managed to save all of the photos, photo albums, jewelry and memorabilia and turned them over to the family.

NESCONSET, NY - Two cats were rescued from a burning home in Nesconset earlier this week.

On Tuesday at about 6:38 hours a.m., the Nesconset Fire Department responded to a house fire reported on Standish Place.

All occupants escaped safely and no injuries were reported.

The St. James, Smithtown, Hauppauge and Lakeland Fire Departments as well as the Central Islip Ambulance all responded to the scene.

The blaze was under control by 7:41 a.m.

Firefighters managed to save all of the photos, photo albums, jewelry and memorabilia and turned them over to the family.

In addition before firefighters arrived, Suffolk Police officers Kevin Wustenhoff and Michael Gisbert successfully rescued two cats from the burning home.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Smithtown Fire Marshals office is currently investigating.
